Programme Description
The Advanced Clinical Practice (ACP) degree enables experienced practitioners working at an advanced level to meet the nationally agreed advanced clinical practice criteria.
This degree offers an individualised pathway based on pre-accreditation (up to 60 credits) tailored to current and future development needs.
The following awards (at either MSc or PGDip levels) are given depending on practice area: Health Care Practice, Nursing, Mental Health, Midwifery or Primary Care.
Note - Our programme has full accreditation status from The Center for Advancing Practice

Module Description
An introduction to Advanced physical assessment techniques for experienced clinicians in a position where they can practice these new skills. This module is suitable for those working in Accident and Emergency areas, General practice, inpatient and outpatient services as well as those in a community setting. The aim of his module is to give the nurse or AHP greater skills in assessment to aid with decisions to support admission prevention, early discharge and help the clinician identify if their patient needs further referral.

Module Description
This is an interprofessional module which aims to equip experienced practitioners in health and social care with the skills and knowledge required to enable them to undertake a Best Interest Assessment (BIA), a specific task related to implementing the Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards.
Entry Requirements
Two years post-registration experience as either an approved mental health professional or social worker registered with Social Work England.
First level nurses should be registered in Part 1 of the Register, occupational therapists registered in Part 6 of the Register and chartered psychologists listed in BPS Register of Chartered Psychologists

evidence based knowledge required for
undertaking safe, appropriate and cost-effective prescribing from the Nurse & Midwives Prescribers’ Formulary for Community Practitioners only. This will be within the context of current legislation
and local and national policy.
An emphasis will be placed on a team and public health approach to prescribing decisions and practice with patient need and safety always at the core of prescribing decision making. The module aims to build on the student’s

The module focuses on developing research capability as part of the students’ professional practice within a health and social care context.
Students on this module come with a range of professional backgrounds in health and social care.
The module develops knowledge and understanding of research practice through undertaking action-based enquiry. Students address a topic, or a concern, relevant to their professional practice or work context and through the planning, design and implementation of a dissertation / project they learn about the research process, methods of inquiry and in so doing develop their research capability.

Module Description
This module is designed to develop the skills and evidence-based knowledge needed to undertake safe, appropriate and cost-effective independent and supplementary prescribing for nurses, midwives and SCPHN.
Taught by experienced practitioners and lecturers, this course will build on your existing knowledge base and physical assessment skills to further enhance autonomous practice. A physical assessment module is a pre-requisite.
The aim of this course is to successfully develop safe non-medical prescribers who are competent to assess, manage and prescribe in their area of clinical expertise, working in conjunction with their patients, and multidisciplinary team to give holistic care. Expertise and awareness of limitations are key to accountability and safe prescribing.

The SHEN has specifically been designed for a wide range of midwives, health visitors and neonatal professionals who work with newborns, in line with the Standards of proficiency for midwives (NMC, 2019). On completion of this module, practitioners will be equipped with the advanced knowledge, skills and confidence to undertake the full and holistic examination of the neonate from birth to six weeks of age. They will also be competent to undertake out the NIPE screening programme, which is an element of the SHEN. Module Description
This module aims to develop health care practitioners to work sensitively with clients and enable them to understand the issues and management of contraception and sexually transmitted infections.
It will enable health care practitioners to contribute more effectively to sexual health services and to evaluate the impact of sexual health policy and sexual health promotion strategies on service provision.
Students undertaking NSA3637/4637 will need 35 hours of mentored clinical practice in designated contraception and sexual health clinics and on completion, will be deemed to be competent to work clinically in sexual health services.
