Headway online feedback: Strengths

Headway is a complex of enhancing and developing  language skills.  In this sense it is worth mentioning some of the main strong sides:

  • The book is addressed to all those who want to study English
  • There is a logical chain; the units are categorized and introduced according to their order;
  • The online platform provides unique chances for students;  it is the key to online teaching success;
  • Each book contains interactive exercises practicing the previous material;
  • Listening comprehension sections are also full of pictorial materials; the students will have both visual and audio materials;
  • The book is attractively laid out: colourful pages, positive faces; this is the psychological aspect of 'Headway'.
  • The book is a provider of cognitive knowledge. The books develop speaking skills.

Headway online feedback: Weaknesses

Weak points:

  • There are no energizers, game activities. In Elementary Student’s Workbook there are a few role plays.
  • Exercises for enhancing writing exercises don’t have wide ‘circulation’.
  • The methodology is the same in the framework of the whole book (Elementary).The questions are structured as close-ended ones.

The edition I have at my disposal is the Headway Elementary 3rd edition  by Liz and John. I have taken this book as an additional material. We have prepared close-ended questions for Conservatory (Gyumri Branch) students as they focus on Basic English.

In 2017, based on the ECTS User’s Guide, educational programs were changed for 1-4 year students, as a result of which:

• Subject list has been reduced;

• student weekly class time has been shortened;

• the internship component has increased;

• subject descriptions have been developed outlining prior knowledge, acquired skills and abilities.

ECTS Users Guide: feedback

The credits of credit mobility are recognized on the basis of the guideline procedures in the University, but there are still some issues with the internal mobility of students within the country, as the comparability of credit scoring by different universities has not been resolved.

 Students have an internship diary where the assessment is done by the employer and the University.

The University provides Academic transcript for each semester, which shows the student's grades and credits.
