Engagement at Home

  • Check in daily with your student - every hour to every six hours depend on the students age, personality, and need. You know your student the best!
  • Ask them to describe in their own words what they learned today at school.
  • Review “to-do” list, schedule, and classroom assignments during a designated time throughout the day.
  • Create goals and incentives for student performance and task completion.
  • Allow students to play games like Prodigy where they are academic-based video games.

  • Provide multiple methods of instructor communication directly with students and parents (Borup, Graham, & Drysdale, 2013).
  • Download the extension Mote to provide 30 seconds of voice recording feedback (unlimited feedback) to your student on G-Suite Apps

Google Voice + Text Messaging

If your teacher has a Google Voice account with texting messaging, send them a text.

Research has shown that text messages are read within four minutes of being sent.

Send a Video Message Via Loom or Call

Students, parents, and teachers can screencast via Loom in a matter of seconds. Once done, all the student must do is share the link via email or text.

Email

Use speech to text for email. Emails should be short and direct.

Emails are the lowest form of communication, which take hours to receive a reply. .
