Key elements of media language for each text (e.g. camera shots, colour, typography, laugh tracks)
Key areas of representation and constructs in each text (e.g. gender, race, age)
The context for each case study text (when was it made, who by and why?)
The ideology behind each key text (e.g. feminism and female empowerment, political bias)

Top tips:
Clearly read the questions and ensure ensure you understand the command verbs within the question. For example, compare, describe, evaluate… Underline them if you feel it’s useful.
Never leave a question blank, always take and educated guess. Linked words and topics can occasionally pick you up some marks, even with no explanation..
Ensure long answer questions are answered fully. Make sure you have clear individual points which are justified. Usually a 6 mark question will be 3 justified points.

What should I revise? You cannot really revise for Art & Design, however, you can attend lunchtime and after school workshops. Reflect on feedback given on the ‘Where am I now’ sheets.
Design and Technology
How to revise for...
Top tips:
Think about the use and needs of a product to help remind yourself of properties materials have. E.g. an aluminium drinks can needs to be non-ferrous (to not contaminate the contents) and lightweight (to hold with ease when full), it needs to be easily formed in one piece (malleable).
Learn key words and specific examples that apply - e.g. properties of materials, copper is ductile and an electrical conductor as it can be made into thin electrical wires.
Practice doing a product analysis applying ACCESS FMM in detail to revise a variety of areas in one task - e.g. stating the specific material and why this is appropriate.
Practice the use of ‘PEE’ (point/example/explain) to help develop answers that show a thorough understanding. Giving an example (situation/product) helps gain additional marks in the exam as it shows understanding - some Q’s request them!
