adverbs Definition: A adverb is a word that tells HOW, WHERE, WHEN, and to WHAT EXTENT(how much). An adverb is a word that modifies a VERB an ADJECTIVE or another ADVERB. MOST adverbs tell HOW and end in LY.

List the adverbs in the following sentences and then look at the pictures on the following slides. Write a complete sentence for each picture with at least 2 adverbs per sentence.

  1. He walked quickly to his seat after nervously turning in his final essay.
  2. The crowd cheered quite loudly as the team quickly scored the winning run.
  3. The smell of flowers slowly filled the room as the guest eagerly took their seats.
