Leadership/Behavioral Expertise

  • A District PBIS Leadership Team is formed and has broad representation that may include the District’s designated PBIS administrative liaison, superintendent, director of special education/pupil services, district coach, one or more building coaches, family members, general and special education teachers, representative from Academic RtI leadership team. At least two individuals on the leadership team have behavioral expertise and experience to ensure implementation integrity.

Leadership/Behavioral Expertise

  • The District PBIS Leadership Team commits to meet at least quarterly to analyze school/district-wide behavioral and academic data and to use this data in the problem-solving process.
  • The District agrees to support the district coach in convening quarterly meetings with building coaches.
  • The district coach will contact the principals of those schools planning to implement PBIS and assist them in the completion of School Readiness Checklist.

Political Support

  • PBIS related goals (i.e. climate, culture, behavior, discipline, disproportionality) are identified as one of the top three district improvement goals.
  • The Superintendent commits to school-wide PBIS and is aware that PBIS is a 3-5 year process that requires ongoing training across the continuum of behavior support.

Political Support

  • The District Leadership Team will complete a 3 year strategic PBIS action plan, addressing all three tiers, in conjunction with the district’s Response to Intervention Plan (RtI). Funding

  • District has allocated funding for a minimum of 3 years.

Training Capacity

  • The district coach commits to participating in ongoing professional development and networking provided.
  • All identified District PBIS Team members agree to attend the Tier 1 training sequence.
  • The Tier 1/Universal team at each PBIS school must participate in the sequence of Tier 1 training. District and building coaches commit to participate in the Tier 1 training sequence with their school teams.

Coaching Capacity

  • The District appoints a designated PBIS administrative liaison. The recommended commitment of the District’s designated PBIS administrative liaison should equal .1 FTE.
  • The District identifies a district coach who will participate in the PBIS coaches’ trainings. The recommended FTE of a district coach should equal .2 for five implementing schools. Additional FTE allocation may be needed for larger schools and/or high school districts.
  • Each school must have an individual assigned to the role of building coach.

Coaching Capacity

  • Establish a discipline database as a school-based discipline tracking system (for example SWIS, Skyward, etc…) .

  • District identifies a Local Coordinator for the PBIS Assessment website and submits a Local Coordinator Information Form https://www.pbisapps.org/SearchCenter/Pages/Results.aspx?k=coordinator%20form

  • District coach or district’s designated PBIS administrative liaison verifies that the fidelity tools (TFI) are completed in all trained PBIS schools and uploaded to PBIS Assessment according to the Midwest PBIS Network Evaluation Plan.
