Purpose

SOP-5: Teaching Standards – Best Practices is to provide teachers with

practical, standardized guidelines that enhance the quality, consistency, and effectiveness of ENOZ class delivery. This SOP is designed to:

​

    • Strengthen communication by promoting clear, confident, and student-centered interaction during lessons.

​

    • Ensure instructional effectiveness through structured delivery methods, appropriate use of teaching tools, and adherence to approved lesson content.

​

    • Promote fairness and professionalism by guiding teachers to give equal attention to all students while maintaining discipline and focus.

​

    • Support classroom management with clear protocols for attendance, evaluations, and lesson tracking to maintain accountability.

​

    • Safeguard student welfare by prohibiting inappropriate topics, unapproved materials,

and non-educational games.

​

    • Reinforce ENOZ standards by encouraging energy, enthusiasm, and patience in

teaching, while eliminating distractions and unprofessional conduct.

1. Communication & Delivery

​

    • Clarity: Speak slowly, clearly, and confidently.
    • Instructions: Use simple, direct instructions, especially for beginner-level students.
    • Wait Time: Allow 3–5 seconds of pause before giving clues or answers to encourage independent thinking.
    • Sentence Usage: Encourage complete sentence responses and progressively guide students toward full sentence construction.
    • Tone: Maintain a conversational, interactive tone; avoid using Filipino or Korean language during lessons.
    • Speaking Ratio: Follow the 70/30 rule — students should speak 70% of the time, teachers 30%.
    • Summarization: Summarize lessons clearly and invite student questions to reinforce comprehension.
    • Closure: End each class positively and professionally, ensuring students feel encouraged and motivated.

2. Lesson Content & Tools

    • Odyssey/Excalibur: Remove the “Words to Practice” section, except for ENOZ and CD Edu accounts.
    • Homework: Do not assign homework.
    • Spelling: Do not ask students to spell words unless explicitly required.
    • Repetition Method: Use the “Repeat After Teacher (Tarahe)” method when necessary.
    • Gestures: Use appropriate hand gestures to aid comprehension when helpful.
    • Pen Tool: Do not give the pen tool to students unless required by the lesson.
    • Circle Time: Vary questions to avoid repetitive prompts (e.g., avoid asking “What did

you eat?” repeatedly).

 Games: Only use games that enhance speaking skills.

 Content Safety: Do not show frightening, inappropriate, or distracting images.

 Wrap-Up: Begin wrap-up one minute before class ends.

 Duration: Complete the full class duration; extend time only when instructed by Admins.

3. Teacher Conduct

    • Energy & Patience: Teach with enthusiasm, energy, and patience.
    • Fairness: Give equal attention to all students.
    • Camera Discipline: Do not pan the camera toward other teachers.
    • Avoid Distractions: Refrain from unnecessary movements or behaviors, including:

    • o Touching face or hair unnecessarily
    • o Scratching head or nose
    • o Shaking legs
    • o Slouching or leaning
    • o Looking or talking to other teachers
    • o Eating, chewing, or drinking during class
    • o Yawning
    • o Going to the bathroom during class
    • o Fixing or adjusting personal items while teaching

4. Attendance & Class Management

​

    • Log-in Protocols:

o Log in 3 minutes before class (if not back-to-back).

o Log out exactly on time; logging out early is considered incomplete.

o For back-to-back classes: log out 30 seconds early and log in immediately to the next class.

​

    • Attendance Tagging: Tag both general attendance and individual attendance immediately.

​

    • Lesson Details: Complete next lesson details, including:

o Book name and number

o Unit

o Lesson part

​

    • Evaluations: Finish evaluations within the same day (ENOZ classes).

​

    • Lesson Tracker: Update the lesson tracker promptly after each session.

Teachers must never discuss:

    • Religion
    • Money
    • Physical appearance
    • Gender roles
    • Personal information (e.g., social media accounts, address, phone number, etc.)
    • Informing students regarding teacher’s scheduled time
