What is a Sandpit, Live! session?

Each week (or as much as the Facebook group desires) we invite our members to run a Sandpit, Live! session

The session can cover a topic that the community has voted for using Facebook polls on the Facebook group.

The member who has nominated the chosen topic becomes the facilitator of the session.

Facilitators will follow the facilitator guidelines and work with the Facebook admin of London Arts and Health to:

  • Set-up a Facebook event;
  • Run the session;
  • Follow up with a quick survey (if relevant).

How to run a Sandpit, Live! session

Sandpit, Live! sessions are about London Arts and Health members having space to practice, play and polish ideas that feed their creative or professional arts and health practice. The sessions should feel inclusive and informal: this is about sharing knowledge and having space to talk, reflect or even try out something with peers.

The Online Format

  • Sandpit, Live! sessions are a 60 minute Zoom peer learning session
  • The session should be split roughly into the following sections:
    • 5 min check-in, welcome
    • 20 min facilitator presentation
    • 20 minute task/breakout
    • 10 mins sharing
    • 5 mins reflection
  • Don’t let each section over-run: you need to keep everyone on time to ensure enough space for trying out or chatting about problems.

Date & Time

  • Sandpit, Live! Sessions are always run on a Wednesday.
  • We recommend either a lunchtime slot (12.30pm) or after work (7pm).

The Digital Sandpit spirit

  • Always introduce the event with a quick introduction as to who you are, what the Sandpit, Live! Session will cover and your experience or interest in the topic.
  • Inspire connection in the room encouraging networking: we know members need and want this. Encourage members to connect on the chat.
  • Do not turn Sandpit, Live! events into a sales opportunity for your own agenda, or to sell a product or service.
  • Most of all, don’t take yourself too seriously and just have fun with it!
