Session 13: Synergies (and new missions)
- CRISTAL coming – opportunities with enhanced Ku/Ka bandwidths, NASA radiometer
- R&D on snow thickness of sea ice ongoing and needed, opportunities for the science community to provide feedback
- Extensive campaign plans – will aid the R&D and validation, NASA cooperation
- Public release of plans good for other groups to get involved (“boots on ground”)
- End2end simulators and L2 processors for ice sheets and inland lakes
- Great opportunities for mission synergies: IceSat-2, CIMR, Rose-L, SWOT, S3 .. also great SWOT-CRISTAL opportunity research
- Fiducial reference sites would be useful across many missions
Golden times for polar satellite missions are here – to address climate, society and fundamental research issues … more to come in the next decade …
Thanks to ESA and NASA for arranging a great symposium
