Fourth and fifth grade students at HAY will use critical thinking/problem solving skills, collaboration and time management to work on a real-world project. Students will have voice and choice in the project by making decisions about the project such as the topic, how they work, and what product they create. Students will give, receive and use feedback to revise and improve their project. Students will have the opportunity to share their project with their classmates.

Expectations for the project

I did my best to learn all about my topic to design and plan a solution to this real-world problem.

I addressed all the big questions about my project’ (who, what, when, where, why and how) in a clear, informative and creative way.

I made several connections to ELA, math and/or science in my project.

I have proofread all of my writing for spelling, grammar and punctuation.

I created a project that is visually appealing and organized.

I put forth my best effort and incorporated technology to the best of my ability.

I managed my time and completed the project by the due date (June 5th).

*I worked cooperatively with my partner/group and did my fair share of work.

Before turning in your project, make sure you met all the expectations.

Place a next to indicate that you met each one.
