Youth Homelessness: A Crisis We Can’t Ignore
2
The US Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) defines homeless youth as individuals who are 24 years of age or younger and who are not part of a household with someone older than 24.
When we talk about youth homelessness, we’re talking about young people under 24—Gen Z in particular—who are sleeping in shelters, crashing on couches, or, worst of all, living on the streets. Let’s be clear: this is an emergency.
Youth homelessness isn’t just about a lack of shelter; it’s about a lack of opportunity, security, and basic human dignity.
