• passage to read:"The black woman lives in a society that discriminates against her on two counts...the twin jeopardy of race and sex..." (p. 330)
• Focuses on 7 different accounts of people facing issues within their own race, with the addition of being female in a patriarchal society.
• All of their personal choices are based in politics because of their race and gender (unchangeable)

Questions:

• What is the connection between the code names and the quoted feminists? It does not appear as though they are directly related...why the match up?
• They both tell their own stories and share there experiences
• so why did the author pick these people to match the characters up with?
• We feel the code names are used to share what their ethnicity is
• We feel that women of different ethnicties went through many hardships becasue they had to deal with being racialized because of their ethnicity as well as their gender

• We feel that Angela Woo wAS never romoted because she was asian and she is a woman. this shwows how poorly women of ethnicity were treated unequally. What do you think matters more in society? Race or Gender?
