After revisiting this video and the scientific article text, write a short story pretending you are the invisible sound wave of a mystery song, leaving the bud of an earphone and entering an ear.

On the next slide describe your journey from the earphone all the way to the brain, and then finally reveal what song you are as the brain decodes the soundwave as music!

For more information about how to work with Google Maps:

  1. Open a new Google chrome window so you can read these instructions as you work on google maps.
  2. In Google chrome, on the top right of your page, click the grid symbol.
  3. Open ‘Google maps’
  4. On the top left of your page, click the 3 horizontal lines:
  5. Click ‘my maps’
  6. At the bottom of the box that appears, click ‘create map’
  7. Click where it says ‘Untitled map’ to give it the name Current Events
  8. In the description box, write a sentence explaining that we are going to pin Current Events we read about during the next term on this map.
  9. Click ‘OK’.
  10. To enter a new pin, click the balloon-shaped symbol under the search bar.
  11. A small plus will appear. Click the plus onto the location where the event occurred.
  12. Type (or copy and paste) onto the pin your Twitter summary from this presentation.
  13. Don’t forget to also Include a link to this presentation on the pin (you can find the link by clicking the blue Share button in the top right hand corner).

Share your learning on your Blog

Instructions for uploading your map to your blog:

  • Within your map you want to embed on your blog, click on the three dots in a vertical line to the right of ‘Add layer.’
  • In the drop-down menu, click on embed on my site.
  • Copy this HTML code (Control-C)
  • Create your new blog post, ensure you are switched to ‘HTML’ (not ‘Compose’).
  • Write an introduction on your blog post to explain what you have been learning. Make sure you include the LO.
  • Paste the HTML code where you want it to appear
  • When you click back to the ‘Compose’ screen, your map should appear.
