  1. Evaluate teacher educators’ perceived confidence and competence to provide gender transformative education;
  2. Measure the extent to which teacher educators apply GRP in their teaching particularly in areas of STEM subjects and CSE;
  3. Assess to what extent there have been positive changes in gender-related knowledge, behaviour and attitudes among teacher educators and their student teachers, that may be associated with the GRP implementation; and
  4. Gather feedback from teacher educators on barriers and enablers for GRP application in their classroom practices, suggested areas for improvement of the GRP training package for future trainings of teacher educators, and feasible pathways for mainstreaming and sustaining this content in their TEIs.

  • 6 of the tools will be used to gather information from the teacher educators themselves or be focused on them.
  • The other 3 of the tools will be used to gather information from other key stakeholders for this period. Namely:

  • Tool 6: The first reflection circle will focus on the teaching of GRP content, the second will focus on the mainstreaming of GRP into STEM / CSE lessons, with the final reflection circle taking place after the monitoring visit and reflecting on the field testing as a whole.
  • Tools 7, 8 and 9 will be used during the monitoring visits, and include a lesson observation with the participating Teacher Educators, Focus Group Discussion (FGDs) with student teachers (by male and female) and a Key Informant Interview (KII) with the Head of the TEI. Signed consent forms will be required for FGDs and KIIs.
