Philosophy

  • Bali Island School supports Education Outside the Classroom (EOTC) as providing significant benefits for young people.
  • Students will develop the various attributes of the IB learner profile, initiate a service project and be guided towards adulthood by developing key life skills.

Timing of Departure/Return

​

  • One day prior to departure, bring backpack to school for homeroom to check students have everything needed for the journey

​

  • Bring your children to school as if it was a normal day. Homeroom checks and departure

​

  • All MYP and DP camps depart 8.00am Tuesday 22nd.
  • G5 camp depart 8.00am Wednesday 23rd, G4 8.00am Thursday, 24th
  • All camps return by 2.45pm Friday 25th
  • Students come to school on departure date ready to camp

What to take

  • Each camp has a packing list
  • Respectful clothing (think dress code)
  • Suitable closed footwear
  • Hat, sunscreen, water bottle
  • Snacks
  • No Electronics, no phone!

  • Emergency plans
    • Each camp will do earthquake and tsunami drills on arrival to establish protocol and collection points
    • Water and first aid, medical records carried
    • Alternate evacuation routes established

Accidents

  • Minor – staff administer appropriate first aid.
  • More serious – initial first aid treatment applied. Parents/School informed. Student accompanied by staff member to listed clinic via camp emergency car.

    • BIS EOTC Child Protection Policy shared and understood
    • Sleeping areas
    • Toilets, showers
    • Staff availability 24/7

Communication

  • Camp leaders will contact school daily
  • In case of home emergency: parents contact school – school contacts camp liaison (chaperone)
  • Any incident involving your child will be communicated.
  • Liaison Teacher might contact you if needed
  • No news is good news
