Parent Community Coordinator (PCC)

Hello,

I am the school parent community coordinator serving John T. Baker MS and Lois P. Rockwell ES. My role as PCC is to enhance two-way communication between home and the school. I work in collaboration with school leaders, staff, and community organizations to support, develop and implement family engagement activities.

I support families by guiding them through the school system, helping to build capacity and to advocate for their student’s academic success, specifically, those who may be facing language, cultural or economic barriers.

Examples of How We Help-

Serve as a home-school liaison creating two-way communication to help families get the information, tools, and knowledge they need to engage in and support their student's academic and social success. Please refer families to:

• Connect to school and community resources that provide help with basic needs and vital services.
• Support to address academic, social-emotional, health and attendance concerns.
• Help understand MCPS educational programs, curriculum, services, policies and procedures.
• Provide a positive and welcoming orientation for families of newcomer students.
• Provide strategies and skills to support student learning at home and in the community.

3. Personal code is your employee ID number plus the last two digits of your distribution location number. (3705 for Baker MS)
