New registrations are processed in the order they are received at the Board office. Paperwork & medical records are reviewed & approved then class placement is made. Buses will take 3-5 business days to be assigned.

HEALTH Information

  • Early Dismissals: Notify office and teacher of any early pickups prior to 2pm if possible.
  • Tardy: Notify office and teacher of late arrivals (or will be marked unexcused).
  • Doctor appointments: Bring medical note for Dr appointments to be marked excused.
  • Attendance Policy: Letters and/or calls will be made for excessive absences per State of CT.
  • All absences must be reported with reason and are recorded in Powerschool.

The State of CT requires all students to provide the necessary health documentation to attend school. All new students must have the medical information REVIEWED AND APPROVED BY THE SCHOOL NURSE BEFORE starting school. Please provide all documentation two weeks before school starts.

K - 2 Literacy Update

Reading Assessments

We are on our way with our September reading assessments in K-2.

In the next few weeks, we will give the DIBELS tests in K-2 and iReady Reading in grade 2. Families will receive a report after testing is completed explaining the results and what to work on next.

Social Studies lessons are starting soon!

Unit 1 - Me As a Citizen

Grade 2

Students explore their identities and what makes them unique and special.

Grade 1

Students explore the concepts of kindness, integrity, responsibility, perseverance and honesty.

Kindergarten

Students learn about what it means to be a good citizen in their classroom community.

STEM in Action at OE

iReady testing begins the week of September 9th!

Grade 1 students will take the math diagnostic assessment on iPads in their classrooms.

Grade 2 students will begin testing during the week of September 16th on chromebooks.

Kindergarten students will take the math diagnostic assessment in October.

Families can help to support testing by doing the following:

  • Ensure that students get a good night’s sleep
  • Encourage a healthy breakfast
  • Remind students to show their work

as best they can

Reports will be sent home when testing is completed. If you have any questions, please reach out to your child’s teacher or Mrs. Addie, STEM coach.
