Protocol,

Today, we gather here with a shared purpose, a purpose that transcends borders, ideologies, race, and religion, and differences. We come together to advocate for peace, not only in Sudan but also in all war-torn countries around the world. Our hearts ache witnessing the suffering and devastation caused by conflict, but today, we strive to rekindle the flame of hope, to sow the seeds of understanding, and to foster an unwavering commitment to peace.

I stand before you with a message of hope and a plea for peace. In the midst of darkness, where conflict and strife have torn apart nations and shattered the lives of countless innocent people, it is therefore our collective duty to advocate for peace, understanding, and reconciliation. I speak not only for Sudan but also for Afghanistan, Pakistan, Syria, Palestine, Libya, Somalia, Ukraine and all other countries experiencing war and conflict across the globe. where the scars of violence and division run deep.
War has the power to create destruction, to divide families and communities, and to sow seeds of hatred and fear. But peace, my friends, peace has an even greater power, the power to heal, to unite, and to nurture the seeds of progress and prosperity. Today, we must reaffirm our commitment to that greater power, to the possibility of a brighter future for all.

In war-torn countries, generations have endured the horrors of conflict, mothers have wept for their lost children, fathers have fought with courage and desperation, and children have been robbed of their innocence. But let us remember that every tear shed, every life lost, and every dream shattered can serve as a catalyst for change, a call to action that propels us towards a more peaceful tomorrow.

WAELE AFRICA in its 19 years of existence has been at the forefront of peace initiative and negotiation, as well as training our members in peace negotiation, mediation and transformation. Among some of WAELE AFRICA peace activities are:

WAELE AFRICA visited His Excellency Mr. Jakaya Mrisho Kikwete, former President of the United Republic of Tanzania in Dar-Es-Salaam on the 11th of September 2006 to commend him on the appointment of 16 female Ministers and other women in top decision making positions. We also discussed war and conflict affecting African women and the way forward. President Jakaya Mrisho is now WAELE AFRICA Grand Patron

WAELE AFRICA in collaboration with the Sudanese General Women Union (SGWU) held a peace meeting in Khartoum on Darfur issues from the 20^th – 21^st of October 2008. WAELE AFRICA visited President Omar Al-Basher to discuss the Darfur issue as well as issues concerning Sudan and the Republic of Chad. President Omar Al-Basher promised to continue working towards peace between Sudan and Chad as well as in Darfur Region. As a result of WAELE AFRICA meeting with President Omar Al-Basher, Sudanese border with Chad and Sudanese Embassy in Ndjamena was re-opened. Credit was given to WAELE AFRICA peace mission to Khartoum when the border was re - opened by the Sudanese Government.

WAELE AFRICA visited the IDP camp in Al – Fashir, Northern Darfur in May 2009. In collaboration with Sudanese General Women Union (SGWU) organized Peace Summit. More than 3000 women participated in the Peace Summit.

WAELE AFRICA visited South Sudan in October 2010. We met with the First Lady H.E. Mrs Mary Ayen Mayardit Kiir and discussed the need for peace in both North & South Sudan after the referendum.

WAELE AFRICA visited Saharawi refugee camp from 4th– 8th Dec 2010. WAELE AFRICA visited President of Saharawi, H.E. Late Mr. Mohamed Abdelaziz, it was agreed that WAELE AFRICA will organize an International Conference in Nigeria on the plight of Saharawi women. WAELE AFRICA organized the Conference in Abuja, September 2013.

WAELE AFRICA Founder Dr Basirat Niasse delivered paper on her Peace Mission in Africa. US Speaker, Her Excellency Nancy Pelosi was in attendance.

In October2018, WAELE AFRICA held its 8th virtual Peace Summit in Windhoek, Namibia.
Namibia Founding father His Excellency Dr Sam Nujoma opened the Summit while Former President Jakaya Mrisho Kikwete of Tanzania, Her Excellency Dr Saara Kuugonngelwa , Namibia Prime Minister and Her Excellency Former Namibia First Lady, Mrs Penny Pohamba were all in attendance for the opening and closing ceremony

The Republic of South Sudan invited WAELE AFRICA to Sudan Peace talks in February 2020, as well as the formation of South Sudan new Unity Government

On achieving long lasting peace, we must confront the root causes of conflict. We must address economic disparities, promote social justice, and ensure equal opportunities for all. We must reject the poisonous rhetoric of division and embrace the ideals of dialogue, tolerance, and understanding. We must acknowledge the pain and suffering endured by individuals and communities, and offer them solace, support, and the chance to rebuild their lives.

Together, we can build bridges where there were once walls, create dialogue where there was only silence, and forge unity where division reigned supreme. We can turn the weapons of war into tools of progress, transform hate into empathy, and replace despair with hope.

To the leaders and policymakers in war-torn nations, I urge you to prioritize the welfare of your people above all else. Embrace the values of transparency, accountability, and inclusivity. Lead with integrity and courageously chart a course towards peace. Remember that the legacy you leave behind will be defined not by the battles fought, but by the lives you uplift and the wounds you heal.

To the international community, I call upon you to stand united in supporting these nations on their path to peace. Provide the necessary resources, expertise, and guidance to facilitate the healing process. Let us break the chains of indifference and work hand in hand to create a world where every child grows up in an environment free from the horrors of war.

Let us remember the countless individuals who have devoted their lives to peace, who have worked tirelessly to bring about an end to violence. Their courage and resilience should inspire us all. They have shown us that the path to peace is not a solitary journey, but a collective effort that requires the participation of each and every one of us.

Sudan, and all war-torn countries, deserve a future defined by peace, prosperity, and dignity. Let us join hands, shoulder to shoulder, across borders and boundaries, transcending differences and embracing our shared humanity. Let us stand together as a global community, united by our commitment to peace and our determination to create a better world for generations to come

.�Beyond Sudan, we extend our prayers and support to all those who endure the horrors of war. To the innocent children who bear witness to violence, displacement, and loss, we offer our solidarity. To the families torn apart, separated by conflict, and longing for reunion, we offer our empathy. To the brave men and women who stand on the front lines, risking their lives to protect others, we offer our gratitude.
