Requirements for admissions to CSULB within the local area:

  • * Successfully complete A-G coursework
  • * 2.5+ A-G GPA (10th-11th grade)
  • ** 3200+ CSULB Index Score (see formula)
      • A-G GPA x 200 + (500 x Math GPA) + (500 x English GPA)
    • A-G GPA = 10th/11th grade A-G coursework w/ up to 8 additional points for Honors/AP/IB. Math/English GPA calculated using ALL semesters in grades 9-11.
  • CSULB Stem Index
    • 600 x Math GPA + 600 x Science GPA
    • (using ALL 6 semesters of Math/Science)
    • 3600+ required for STEM index/ STEM majors

(If you have 3200 CSULB index, but not 3600 for STEM, you will be admitted “undeclared” rather than into your major)

SAT/ACT Testing Policies: Policies vary; check each campus you’re interested in. Many schools have brought back testing as a requirement, or may be test optional.

  1. Apply - (GWC, OCC, Coastline apps now open)
  2. Complete the online orientation
  3. Complete a Student Education Plan (SEP)
  4. Complete all steps by April for GWC/OCC priority registration.
  5. Register for courses

  • Transfer to UC’s/CSU’s after 60 transferable units.

EOP: Educational Opportunity Program

    • Provides academic support and retention services to first-generation, low-income, and educationally disadvantaged students

    • Services may include:
      • Summer Bridge Program
      • Academic Advisement
      • Financial Assistance (EOP Grant)
