Hazards

  • Aqueous nickel, commonly found in nickel(II) chloride, has many severe health implication

  • Exposure can cause:
    • Cancer
    • Genomic Effects
    • Highly toxic to aquatic life with long lasting effects

  • Difficult to remove in wastewater treatment
    • Imperative to make sure any and all nickel waste is properly disposed of
    • No amount down the drain
    • Any concentration over 10 ppm is regulated and should be managed separately
