Why Ryu?

Capabilities

A world where developer tooling is fast, private, and owned by the developer — not locked behind a login screen or a subscription.

Ryu is a fast, local-first API testing tool built for developers who want a lightweight alternative to Postman. It runs as a native desktop app powered by Tauri and Rust, keeping your requests, collections, and environment variables stored locally — no accounts, no cloud sync, no bloat. Clean UI, zero telemetry, and everything you need to test APIs without the overhead.

What Ryu is?

Vision

To build an open-source API client that respects your privacy, runs blazingly fast on any desktop, and stays out of your way so you can focus on building.

Why Ryu?

MostAPItools today ask youtosign up, synctothecloud, and acceptthat

yourrequest data lives on someone else's server. Ryuflips that. Everything stays on your machine — your collections, your environment variables, your history — with no account and no telemetry. It's built with Rust and Tauri, so it launches fast, runs lean, and doesn't eat yourRAM like Electron-based alternatives. The interface is focused and minimal by design, so you spend less time navigating menus and more time actually testing. And because it's open-source, you're not locked into a pricing tier or waiting on a roadmap controlled by a corporation. Ryu is built by developers, for developers — fast, private, and yours.

Ryu isn't trying to beat Postman. It's built for developers who never wanted all that in the first place.

What Ryu Does?

Ryu lets you send HTTP requests, inspect responses, and organize your API workflow — all from a native desktop app. You can build and save request collections, manage environment variables with {{placeholder}} syntax, switch between auth methods like Bearer, Basic, and API Key, and view formatted JSON responses instantly. It talks to a Rust backend under the hood, so requests are handled fast and locally without routing through any external service.

Everything in Ryu lives locally. Your requests, collections, and environment variables are stored on your device, never uploaded to a server. No account required, no telemetry, no cloud dependency — just open the app and work.

Benefit 01

Built with Tauri and Rust, Ryu installs at a fraction of the size of Electron-based tools and launches instantly. You get a snappy, responsive experience on Windows, macOS, and Linux — without the memory overhead of browser-based desktop apps.

Ingenuity and Technical Decisions

We provide a developer-focused API testing tool designed to meet

the needs of solo developers, teams, and open-source contributors. Ryu prioritizes speed, privacy, and simplicity to support effective API development workflows.

Ryu is a lightweight, cross-platform tool built on Rust and Tauri, focusing on performance, local-first data storage, and a zero-bloat experience across Windows, macOS, and Linux.

CAPABILITY 03

Ryu support structured API workflows through collections, auth management, and organized request history, focusing on productivity, repeatability, and consistency across development and testing cycles.

CAPABILITY 02

Ryu helps developers test and debug APIs faster through a native desktop experience, focusing on request management, environment variables, and real-time response inspection — all without leaving your machine.

Weplanto release more specialized toolingfor GraphQL, WebSocket, andmulti- environment testing tailored todifferent project types, team sizes, and development stages. Future updates will include collection import and export with Postman compatibility, improved response visualization, pre and post request scripting, and a refined interface to support more complex API workflows.
