  • RFID (os-level application)
  • Possibility of using Hatch to integrate with third party products?

How can we make it better?

  • Option to suppress print settings if no receipt printer
    • Option to suppress print option if email exists
  • Option to disable functions they don’t want (such as limit it to checkout only)
  • Touchless interface? (Scan barcodes)
  • Some libraries want option of not using keyboard at all
    • Enter password on touchscreen like on ATM
  • Option to hide email notification option if they don’t have email

Hemlock App

  • Be able to use camera to scan barcodes

Access to Message Center

  • Maybe even pop up new messages when they log in

Security

  • Ability to integrate with third party products to handle item security (tattletape, etc.)
  • Note: some gates may check item status (via RFID / SIP) to make sure it’s checked out? (too slow to be effective)

Some new browser dev’ts (APIs) may allow browsers to talk to USB ports, so may be able to avoid Hatch

RFID scanning device may be able to scan item & disable security at the same time

Ability to add Google analytics? Could add hooks into selfcheck (and OPAC) to do better tracking

Next Steps

Thank you!

  1. Review all open bugs
  2. Create launchpad tickets for any bugs that have not yet been entered
  3. Develop a specifications document incorporating these ideas
  4. Open up to community feedback and seek funding
