The Self-Manager Packet was created to support teachers and schools as they implement Self-Managers. This is a PBIS strategy that is not about punishment. Instead, it is about highlighting positive behavior around important outcomes including being respectful, responsible, and safe.

I have completed the Self-Manager checklist and I believe I am ready to be a Self-Manager. I understand that if I become a Self-Manager, I must continue to follow all the expected behavior on the Self-Manager checklist. I also understand that if I am selected to be a Self-Manger, I will earn the following:

​

1. I can dismiss myself from lunch, when the duty teacher has said it is ok, instead of by table
2. I can dismiss myself for recess at the appropriate time
3. I can go to lunch, without waiting for my teacher to dismiss me, at the appropriate time
4. I can assist with Kindergarten Recess and the Buddy Bench
5. I can participate in quarterly Self-Manager celebrations
6. I will get a special Self-Manager badge

Applications are reviewed during your teacher’s Collaborative Teacher Team meetings.

Before submitting the application, you must gather signatures from the teachers and staff your work with. Part of being a Self-Manager is being respectful, responsible, and safe in all the places we learn and visit.

Hi Everyone

This year we are using a PBIS strategy titled, Self-Managers. Self-Managers are students who can be trusted to follow all the school expectations, all the time. Students who become Self-Managers can be trusted to be respectful, responsible and safe.

This week, some students will request Self-Manager applications. We will only give the Self-Manager applications to those who have demonstrated, during the first month of school, the qualities of being respectful, responsible and safe.

We are emailing you because students might come to you for your signature. Please only sign if you are confident the student is always doing what they are expected to do, when they are under your supervision.

We understand this is extra work for you, but we are trying to incentivize great social and academic citizenship. In the long run we hope this makes this year, and the years going forward, easier for everyone.
