Get ready for the westerly and be prepared for the southerly.

It will be icy cold inland, and icy cold on the shore.

May the dawn rise red-tipped on ice, on snow, on frost.

Join! Gather! Intertwine!

“Stile allows us to personalize the learning of our students in our middle school program. Students access the Stile lessons that are at their point of need allowing the teacher to facilitate students learning multiple topics in a single classroom.”

Melanie Soklevski,

Bundoora Secondary College

“The incorporation of multimodal activities and the ease to differentiate Stile activities has made it easy to engage all students in my classes.”

Cherie Nelson,

Robina State High School

“Stile is a great tool to help me differentiate in the classroom – I can have students working on different tasks at their own speed. The variation in how the information is presented also helps the kids learn.”

Melinda Boulton,

Diamond Valley College

“Stile is a great program to help stimulate critical thinking around scientific concepts.”

Adam Lindsay,

Myrtleford P12 College

Respect for evidence

  • Did these results surprise you?
  • What were you expecting to find out?

Encouraging Questioning

  • Can you think of an example when this wouldn’t work?
  • What does this representation tell us?

Nurturing curiosity

  • What did you see?
  • Could there be another explanation for this data?

Appreciation for the tentative nature of Science

  • Would these results always be true?
  • Is it something we can see, hear, smell, touch, or taste?

...Dedicated Improvement and Reflection Time (DIRT)

“This is a time in the lesson in which the only goal is for students to read and make use of feedback they have received. Every student will need to have plenty of documented feedback (from themselves, the teacher, and peers) that they can respond to.”

Important things to note...

  • Just get started – reviewing one part leads to thinking about the other parts

  • There is no single way to review a curriculum or assessment practices

  • Time is a significant consideration – it takes time to make changes and adapt practices

  • Curriculum design and review is complex – you won’t necessarily find what works best right away

  • Embed small changes and then build on them
