Selecting of Transportation Modes
The type and volume of goods, delivery timeline, geographical locations and regulatory requirements at different places are some of the major factors that determine the selection of transport mode. The main types of transport modes include air, sea, road and rail transport.
Which Transportation mode is better to use in shipment?

Selection of the appropriate transportation mode to move goods from one place to another, It is always Necessary to have a comprehensive approach incorporating various factors.
a)Time sensitive
Time-sensitive shipments are those that need to be delivered as soon as possible, almost in an instant. The speed in which these shipments can be delivered are entirely dependent on the logistics provider you are working with, and their ability to deliver your shipment in the shortest amount of time.
The fastest time Sensitive transportation mode is air Transportation.
b)Cost
In transportation mode cost comparising of two factors
Transportation expenses are a subset of travel expenses, which include all of the costs associated with business travel such as taxi fare, fuel, parking fees, lodging, meals, tips, cleaning, shipping, and telephone charges ect.
Expenses that are not normally included in the purchase price for a piece of equipment or machine e.g. Maintenance, supplies, training, support and upgrades.

Maritime transportation. With physical properties such as buoyancy and limited friction, maritime transportation is the most effective mode of moving large quantities of cargo over long distances.
d)Dependability
Distribution of products must be available and each time they must ensure the products reach the right place, at the right time without any damage.
e)Frequency
It means the number of time the goods are scheduled for movement.
f)Distance to be covered
Depends upon the distance to be covered like short or long distance.
g)Carrier performance
Its depends on speed,availability, flexibility, frequency, reliability, safety and logistics service capability ect.
