Consequences of Sleep Deprivation
Regularly sleeping 6 hours per night during adolescence doubles the risk of developing symptoms of depression and anxiety one year later.
Regularly getting too little sleep makes learning more difficult and impairs logical thinking and concentration.

Sleep deprivation increases bullying on social media due to impaired impulse control and increased irritability.

Sleep deprivation is common
Almost one third of girls (29%) sleep less than 6 hours per night, which is nearly twice as common as among boys (16%).
Almost two out of three (60%) ninth graders reported sleeping less than 8 hours per night on average.
