What Is DBA

This course is project-based and meant to provide students with basic digital skills used in Sales and Advertising.

Digital Portfolio

Students will create an online portfolio. Each will include at least 5 of the following performance skills:

  • Create a survey using form creation software
  • Create a sales advertisement using the online image and graphic design applications
  • Create a shared calendar for sales and advertising promotions
  • Create infographics for a product or service
  • Create an audio advertisement for a podcast highlighting a product or service
  • Create a 60-second video advertisement for a product or service
  • Create a presentation for a new product or service
  • Create a travel itinerary for a global business trip

Class Expectations

Cell Phones (this was on the school’s presentation)

Cell phones, earbuds, and other devices will be turned off and put away during class time, school performances, assemblies, and time in the media center.

Your teacher may make an exception FOR INSTRUCTIONAL PURPOSES. This is at the discretion of the teacher.

Bellwork

There is bellwork everyday. You are expected to start working on your bellwork as soon as the bell rings

  • To do this, you will need to get your computer out of your backpack as soon as you get here
  • Not after a long chat with your friends, as soon as you get here
  • You don’t have to ask if you can charge your computer. Just do it

When you need to read a text and answer a question, you have ten minutes to do your bellwork. After that, you need to submit it and go back to Canvas to get ready for the next assignment

If you didn’t finish your bellwork, you can finish it later

Bathroom Passes

Going to the bathroom is a privilege. You are free to go before and after class, but if you want to go during class, you need to consider:

  • You can’t go 10 minutes after and before the bell rings
  • You can’t go if you are not actively working and participating
  • You can’t go if you already went
  • You can’t go if you are the third person in less than 30 minutes

You are all big kids. You can wait to go for a class period

Free Time (Breaks)

Occasionally I will give you a break in the middle of class. During those breaks you are free to do some missing work or visit with your friends. Cell phones are still NOT allowed. You may also NOT:

  • Play rough
  • Leave the classroom
  • Yell

Free Time (End of Class)

If we finish class early, you may have free time if you don’t have any missing work. When I say that class is over early, you will need to open Canvas, go to my class and be ready to show me your your grades (this should be easy, since my class’s Canvas should ALWAYS BE OPEN when you’re here

  • If you have missing assignments, you will work on them
  • If you don’t have missing assignments, you need to choose a place to sit and wait there until the bell rings
    • I don’t want people walking around the classroom or lining up before I ask you to

Video Games

If you are caught playing video games during class time, you will lose your computer for the rest of the period, which means that you will not be able to do your classwork during class and it will become homework

If possible, you will be given a print out of the assignment and you will have to copy it into your Canvas later on

If not possible, you will have to work on something else and then make up the missing work. This is fair because you weren’t doing your work anyway
