Where did the name TRIO come from?�Originally, there were only 3 federal TRIO Programs.�

TRIO-SSS is 100% funded by the U.S. Dept. of Education in the amount of $351,623 for the 2022-23 school year.

WHAT CAN TRIO-SSS DO FOR YOU?

Advising

TRIO-SSS will help you:

• complete your degree (choose the right courses & balance your schedule)
• prepare to transfer (take the courses you need to be admissible)
• be major-ready (complete courses needed for your major)

Tutoring & Support 

TRIO-SSS offers: 

• early attendance check-in with faculty to ensure your quarter starts off well
• tutoring (help with Math, Biology, Chemistry, study skills and specific subjects)
• group study & learning communities
• special events & workshops (scholarships, internships, celebrations, & more)
• transfer planning & application assistance

Transfer Planning

TRIO-SSS will help you:

• research transfer schools & programs
• apply to transfer (get help with personal statements!)
• access application fee waivers

​

Paying for College

TRIO-SSS provides help with:

• completing financial aid applications
• accessing alternate college funding
• finding & applying for scholarships

You may even be eligible for our TRIO Scholarship!

As a TRIO member, you can:

• get your official South transcript for FREE
• borrow a calculator (supply is limited)
• borrow a cap & gown when you graduate!

We know that balancing work, life, and college isn’t easy. That’s why the Benefits Hub is here to get you connected to the resources you need to survive and thrive in school.

The benefits hub provides help with

Basic Food (SNAP/EBT), WIC, Local food banks, housing support, help funding school, mental health support, and much more!

HOW DOES TRIO-SSS WORK?

Success is not a matter of chance; make it happen with TRIO-SSS!

Maintain Eligibility

• meet with your TRIO advisor every quarter*
• communicate with your instructors for the mid-term Progress Report check-in every quarter
• check your email regularly

*You will receive an email from TRIO two weeks ahead of the first day to register so you can plan your schedule for the next term.

What: Meet with your instructors mid-quarter

Why:

• Higher Grades
• Time to improve if needed
• Instructors get to know you & that you are a motivated student
• Take charge of your education

How: You will receive an email from your TRIO advisors with instructions during the 4th week of the quarter

• visit the TRIO Canvas site for announcements & post on the discussion board
• take part in workshops and events
• build your social capital & use your resources!
