Curative Testing

Recently an article was published with concerns regarding the false positives and negatives with Curative. Marin County Department of Public Health has responded to this by stating that they still support the continued use of Curative testing. Here is their statement.

  • All COVID tests have been approved for emergency use only
  • These tests are most accurate when used on symptomatic individuals after a known exposure
  • When using COVID tests as screening tests, there is always risk of false positives/false negatives
  • Curative will be sharing clinical trial data with the FDA to update their EUA

LCMSD has been using Curative since November and will continue to do so

When sharing testing options with families, LCMSD will use this list of all available options

Vaccine

  • Phase 1a
    • In progress
    • School nurses are in this phase
    • Estimated completion date: January 31

  • Phase 1b
    • School staff (including regular substitutes)
    • Estimated launch: February 1

  • Current average of units per week: 975
    • It is anticipated this will increase to 2,000 - 3,000 in the near future

  • Once an individual has been vaccinated (both doses), it is extremely unlikely (95%+) that they could be a carrier of COVID and pass it to someone else; however, staff will still be required to wear masks until further notice.

  • Dr. Geithman is a member of the Marin Schools Vaccine Task Force
