Reporting Notes: What to count!
Altruism - “good and kind hearted things
we do for others in the name of AΔK”
Hours - Volunteer Hours in the name of AΔK
Monetary Gifts - Money donated in the name of AΔK, Scholarship donations and donations to charities that you learned about through AΔK
Non-Monetary Gifts - Value of items donated in the name of AΔK
(Refer to the chart on the previous slide or online.)
27
More Notes: Donations that do not count
Donations to the chapter for expenses -
If sisters donate to the chapter treasury for chapter expenses, this is not altruistic and cannot be counted by sisters or the chapter.
Donations and volunteering for other charities -
Example: Donations to church activities and church charities should not be counted.
Donations to the chapter for refreshments or chapter supplies -
Providing food or supplies for the chapter is not altruistic and should not be counted.
28
More Notes: “Double Dipping”
If sisters list a donation, the chapter cannot list the same donation.
Example: The chapter collects donations from sisters for a certain cause or a scholarship and the sisters list that on their individual report. The chapter writes a check for the cause. The chapter cannot record the amount donated as part of the chapter donation.
Since the sisters report their individual donations, the chapter altruistic donations reported can only be any amount over the amount of money collected from sisters.
Otherwise, it is like counting the same money twice.
