Player Agent

  • Your player agent is your first point of contact for issues.
  • Missing a player, call him for a replacement. Prepare a list of players who would like to sub if needed. Send it to them.
  • Parent / Player concerns – Please inform the player agent early on if there is an issue.

Background Checks

  • Kristin has your forms for you to sign.
  • If not, please fill one out.
  • Every parent who has any interaction with the kids must fill out the coach registration.

Playing Rules

  • Know your FCLL Rules and Green Book Rules
  • Know the play requirements for your division.

Important FCLL Rules

  • In addition to the green book rule, every division except Major, all players must play 3 consecutive outs in the infield within the first 3 innings of every game.
  • Major and Intermediate Divisions will follow green book rule of 6 consecutive outs in the field.

Pitch Count Rules

  • Number of pitches Days of Rest
  • 66 or more pitches in a day 4
  • 51 - 65 pitches in a day 3
  • 36 - 50 pitches in a day 2
  • 21 - 35 pitches in a day 1
  • 1-20 pitches in a day 0
  • 95 Max for 13’s; 85 max. for 11s & 12s; 75 max. for 9s & 10s; 50 max for 7-8.

Tryouts

  • We will need help on the field during all tryouts.
  • Please work the tryout when you are not evaluating your division.
  • Minor managers need to attend the Majors tryouts.

Drafts

  • Managers only at draft.
  • Draft lists to be emailed, updated after the higher draft.
  • Work with each other to strive for even teams. After that, the success of the team is your time and effort into it.
  • No pre-draft Coach of Record for Pee Wee – Majors. All requests and discussion will take place in the draft room.
  • Rookie 7 and below, more flexible. Better ability to honor requests.

Play up Guidelines

  • Players will need to attend two try-outs.
  • Players must be selected in rounds 1-5 of the draft (except Majors in round 1-8).
  • Players will follow age-specific rules regarding pitch count.
  • Parents of kids drafted up can be a coach of record in higher division but not manage.
  • Number of play-ups is in flux and will continue right up to the draft. It may be 4 today and none on draft day.

After Drafts

  • Contact your parents after the draft. You can prepare your introductory email now.
  • Have a team meeting right away
  • Discuss expectations, rules and seek volunteers
  • Medical Release forms
  • Get a team Mom

Dates

  • Team Mom Meeting – Monday, February 17, 2014 in the Octagon
  • Draft dates – January 30th and February 1st
  • Practice Starts – Monday February 3rd
  • Games Start on Opening Day. All teams will play in even team divisions. Odd divisions, one will sit out.
  • Photos opening day. Expect an email from Nessossi with the time.
  • Opening Day Ceremonies – March 1st, Start at 12:00
  • Umpire Clinic – Saturday February 15th
  • No Parents Night out this year. Reinstitute an old tradition of Saturday Night Lights. Date April 5th.

Equipment Pickup

  • Must have Medical Release to pick up bag.
  • Please return it after the season.
  • Please talk to Scott or Roshonn if you still have a bag from a prior season.
  • Will receive two dozen balls, helmets and first aid kit.

Uniforms

  • Uniforms will arrive the week before opening day.
  • You will get the jersey, socks, belt and cap. Pants are picked up at tryouts.
  • Sponsor names will be on the back.
  • Can take locally to get player names.
  • Sizes are best guess from previous seasons.
  • New setup for Minor and Varsity.

Umpires

  • We NEED more umpires!!
  • Encourage your parents to get involved. Go easy on them if we get them out there. If the ump gets abused in one of his first couple of games he will not come back.
  • Umpire Clinic Date: Feb. 15
  • If you or your team representative misses your umpire assignment you WILL be suspended for a game.

Fundraising and Sponsorship

  • Team Sponsors.
  • Some parents want to sponsor their players team.
  • Online list will be posted soon. Printer needs names no later than 2/5/2014.

Schedule

  • Teams will play a 14 game season.
  • Playoffs at the end of season for Pee Wee and Above.
  • Days will vary.

Rainouts

  • Sign up for the rainout line. Directions are on the website. Tell your parents about it.
  • Remain flexible, it’s going to happen.
  • Games will not be forfeited but cancelled if we cannot get them in.

All-Star Process

  • Application window will open in late March.
  • Selection of coaches will be no later than April 13th.
  • Eligible candidates are you as the Manager and the two COR’s you select for your team.
  • We will strive to have the selections completed by 7th game for you to evaluate the players.
  • Managers vote; kids vote. As of now, no separate minor 11 year old vote. More than twenty 11 year olds in Major.
