Each student is assigned the assessment and completes it individually. Each student receives a score based on their performance that can be used to determine the students educational needs on the targets assessed.

Standardized

Non-Standardized

In a non-standardized administration of the interim assessment educators have more flexibility in how the assessment is completed. Using this method teachers could have students complete an assessment in a small group setting or display questions to the class to work on together. This type of administation will not produce individual scores.

After the test

After a student completes a standardized interim assessment their score will be available in the CERS system- if there was a handscoring component that has to be completed before a score will be produced.

Based on student results teachers can use the interim connections playlist (in tools for teachers) to plan instruction.

Teachers will need to log in to access full resources.

Review & Goal Setting

SVUSD did a study within their district around interims. After just administering the interims they reported about 5% student growth. After administering the interims and then reviewing the questions student performance improved by about 15%.

Scores

Administrators, Instructional Coaches and Teachers are rostered in CERS. Administrators/Coaches can access all classes. Teachers can only access students rostered to them. Rosters are not automatic, it is a manual upload.

Educators have options in how to administer the interim assessments to fit their students’ needs and the restrictions of their daily schedule.

    • Print questions from the practice tests (or project) for a bell ringer activity
    • Take released questions and put them into chat gpt to create additional questions of the same DOK level- or change it up!
    • Take an SBAC scoring rubric for writing put it into chat gpt and ask it to create multiple writing prompts addressing a specific standard at a given DOK level.
    • You can leverage AI as a tool to expand on the resources already provided by the state to make supporting your students easier.
