  1. NMT preparation is the responsibility of the teachers who work with 9-11 graders
  2. NMT determines the level of language proficiency
  3. If a learner has B2-C1 certificate (FCE/IELTS/TOEFUL),

it’s easy for them to pass NMT with flying colours/with a high score

4. Grammar is more important for NMT than vocabulary

5. It is impossible to guess the correct option in NMT tasks

7 of 51

In 2025 NMT will be taken only by those who plan to enroll in higher education institutions. The testing will be conducted in a computer-based format. Applicants will undergo examinations in four subjects.

English is the fourth (optional NMT subject)

All four tests will be taken by applicants within a single day, divided into

two blocks of 120 minutes each (covering 2 subjects in each block) with a break in between.

There will be no mock testing.

The difficulty level of the tasks for NMT is B2, which corresponds to the CEFR.

This year's tests are based on the curriculum of the 2021 ZNO.

TOP SKILLS FOR NMT

12 of 51

1. Multiple matching (Task 1 in the test) provides the opportunity for the participant to read such types of text as, for example, advertisements and match them to the statements/topics.

2. Multiple Choice (Task 2 in the test) is intended to test the participant’s ability to understand gist, the main ideas, details and opinions expressed in a text

3. Multiple matching (Task 3 in the test)

In such tasks the participant has to find suitable answers to the questions in several short texts on a common topic.

4. Gap filling (Task 4 in the test)

This method tests the participant’s ability to see how a text is structured, analyze the content based on language phenomena and logical connections and involves choosing a strategy of careful, thoughtful reading.
