Analogy of Marriage
Imagine you have a beloved bear.
This bear has been with you through the tough times.
He was a shoulder to cry on when you were sad.
He was there through all of your ups and downs.
He helped you fight off the monsters under your bed.
You loved everything about it.
But with time your beloved bear has gotten dirty and torn from daily life.
When you first got the bear he was clean and new.
Loving something can be hard. In making sure to take care of your bear, and making it a priority in your lifeā¦
Your bear can still become worn or dirty.
Sometimes it is an easy fix.
Other times, significant repair is needed, and may require outside help.
Just like your relationship favorite bear, a marriage can be similar.
Marriage is built on love, respect, and supporting each other.
Marriage needs each spouse to be watchful of each other and the relationship.
There will be times in marriage when it will be hard. These hard times are when a husband and wife need to work together.
In some cases family, trusted friends, or a therapist may need to help the couple through that hard time.
Working through issues in marriage is essential. Just like you would not throw away a treasured stuffed animal, you should not throw away a marriage through divorce because life is difficult.
