We need to take drastic steps toward supporting a sustainable system

Due to COVID:

Restaurants and stores are dealing with much higher demands for carry-out and delivery, leading to more waste and costs from packaging
Increasing social advocacy for environmentally friendly, zero waste economy
People are more conscious about clean and sanitized packaging

Restaurant owners are paying more than ever for to-go containers as demand has increased dramatically with the virus keeping people home. “Due to price increases, as well as heightened demand for takeout, [Bill Lynn, owner of Skaneateles Skoops and Johnny Angel’s Heavenly Burgers in Skaneateles] is spending more than $2,000 a week in to-go containers — around double what he spent before.”

Street Corner Revolution will introduce a new disposal system to the existing waste management infrastructure: Reusables

Companies like Ozzi and Loop have operated on similar model which can be referenced and scaled to a national scale

Solving this problem will involve getting policy support, updating infrastructure and evolving communities

ur Process

Local government commits to waste management reform, incentivized by reduction in landfill waste.

Maintenance of system will require pick up from collection bins, thorough cleaning, and then redistribution to restaurants. Scale to more industries overtime.

Design reusable food containers, utensils, and beverage holders that are built to last.

Establish collection bins around town and a high-efficiency washing facility.

Start with distributing reusable items to local restaurants in quantities requested by owners.
