What are the virtues?

The virtues are our core values and qualities that we all want to have so that we can work for God.

These virtues are part of the Jesuit Pupil Profile which we work towards as members of a Catholic school.

Let’s find out about the new virtue pairs that we will focus on this half term…

What do these words mean for us as learners at OLSM?

Intentional- this means we do our best to live the way Jesus taught us and use the resources of the earth for good, guided by our knowledge of right and wrong.

Prophetic- this means that we use our faith to set a good example to everyone we meet and live as Christian believers.

How does this link to the Jesuit Pupil Profile?

Pupils in OLSM school are growing to be intentional by planning our actions and living how God wants us to and prophetic in the way that we spread the word of God through how we live our lives.

What does this scripture teach us about being intentional and prophetic?

In this story, Jesus told a parable to the people ( a made up story with a meaning). Jesus was intentional in the story he chose, because it showed that God is a loving Father who forgives us when we sometimes stray from his path.

Prophetic people look for ways to show that they are followers of God through their actions. The father in the story was prophetic because he forgave his son and welcomed him home, even when he had not made good choices. The son in the story was also intentional in the end, because he knew he had done wrong and wanted to make things right.

Let us pray…

Dear God

Thank you for loving us and letting us make our own choices. Help us to live the way your son Jesus taught us. Enable us to make good choices and decisions that are helpful to others and that show our love for you always.

Amen
