Statement about remote learning expectations

We are remote learning pioneers. The terrain is rocky and the destination is still a little unknown. However, here is what we do know:

  • Kids love to learn and whether they will admit it or not, they miss their teachers and classmates. Let's first focus on the student, teacher, and family well being and connections.
  • Students all have different learning environments. Let's be mindful of equity, accessibility, and opportunity. There are many ways to connect, find the way that works for you and your students. It's not about the web tool, it's about the connection.
  • You are masterful at the craft of teaching. Use what you already know. Slowly integrate new ideas. We are all on a steep learning curve in regards to technology, but we are experts in teaching and learning.
  • We are better together. Help each other out. Continue to collectively support all the students in our community by supporting each other.
  • Finally, just like classroom teaching, there is no one right way to do this. Find your style, your groove. Put your personality into your classroom. You got this!

  1. If your instructor (or the meeting host) provided a link (or URL), click the link or paste it into your web browser.

  • If you have not previously installed the Zoom desktop app it may begin downloading. If it does not begin downloading, click “Download & run Zoom.”��

3. You may need to find the download in your browser’s download area and follow the process that you normally would for opening and installing.

4. After following the prompts to install the package, you may be prompted for your name. Provide your actual name rather than your username. This will be your display name in the virtual meeting room.

5. You do not need to create an account in order to join a Zoom meeting.
