• My Name is Ramatu A. Haliru
• I joined Wikimedia community in 2020.
• I am a Librarian, a follow of Wikipedia in African Libraries, Nigerian Library Association, Association of Women Librarians in Nigeria & a Member of the Nigeria Wikimedia user group.

WHAT IS WIKIDATA?

• A central editable repository of structural and link data on wiki under a free license (CCO).
• It’s a pure free software, pure free data
• It is open and editable by anyone
• It is a sister project to Wikipedia
• Every piece of information is described in triple which are subject, predicate and objects
• Its was lunched on 29 October, 2012

WIKIDATA ITEMS

• An items contain information about a particular persons, place, things or animals
• Its has a label which is machine readable in a database that is free under an open source
• A unique identified is assigned with Q and number given to each item on wikidata.

WHAT ARE WIKIDATA TOOLS?

• They are online instrument or gadgets that can be use to work on wikidata more quickly and comfortable while editing or creating items which are:
• Edit items: activate shortcuts keys on gadgets
• Query data: wikidata query bluder
• Enhance user interface
• Visualize data
• List properties
• Lexicographical data
• For programmmers

IMPORTANCE OF WIKIDATA

• Wikidata is a central database for Wikimedia products
• Its is a tool for generating data
• Its has central connections with Wikipedia
• Wikidata content can be render as maps and graphics for other Wikimedia products.

HOW TO CREATE WIKIDATA ITEM

• First you must have a username
• Login to www.wikidata.org
• Click on create item
• Type the name of the item
• Describe the item
• Press create or enter key

HOW TO USE WIKIDATA QUERY BUILDER

• If you are in wikidate interface already click on query builder by the lift side of the screen or
• Click on https://query.wikidata.org/querybuilder/?uselang=en
