The International Baccalaureate Organization aims to develop inquiring, knowledgeable and caring young people who help to create a better and more peaceful world through intercultural understanding and respect
The IBO works with schools, governments and international organizations to develop challenging programmes of international education and rigorous assessment.
These programmes encourage students across the world to become active, compassionate and lifelong learners who understand that other people, with their differences, can also be right.

The Learner Profile – The goal of the IBO is to create lifelong learners who are …
Candidates who successfully complete the entrance tests will be offered places based on their grades from Grundskola (åk 9 betyg)
The entrance tests are each around two hours long and test the candidates´ abilities in English and Mathematics.
Students who set IB DP at Katedralskolan as their first choice on their gymnasium application will be prioritised when places are offered to students.

Entrance to the Programme
IB DP students can use the results to apply to Swedish universities and to universities around the world.
Staying in Sweden -The new (2019) conversion scale ensures that IB students have the same opportunities as all other Swedish students to gain entry to Swedish universities. In addition we know from talking to the IB and to our former students that the Diploma Program is particularly effective in preparing students for university studies.
Abroad - Many of our students apply to study outside of Sweden in countries such as the UK, US, Holland, Poland, Italy etc.
The IB DP is an internationally recognised and respected program. We have years of experience supporting students in their applications to top-tier universities such as Cambridge, Edinburgh and the Stockholm School of Economics (Handels).

After the Diploma Program
University – Sweden or Abroad ?
An internationally respected programme which prepares students for university and for lifelong learning
Great preparation for those who wish to study abroad after Gymnasium. We have years of experience helping students to join top universities both in Sweden and abroad.
The skills learned during the Extended Essay and Theory of Knowledge develop the abilities necessary for success at the university level.
Why students choose IB
The IB Diploma programme is regulated by the IBO. Practically, this means that the school follows the rules that the IBO sets. Ultimately the IBO has the final authority in how we offer the Diploma Programme to our students. The 5 Policies below explain how our programme is organised .
All policies are available on our school website.
