Crys Tucker
Artist
Crys is a multidisciplinary visual artist whose work weaves together themes of identity, memory, healing, and transformation. Born and raised in Memphis, TN as the eldest of five, she discovered her creative voice through poetry at age five. planting the seeds for a lifelong exploration of expression through language and image.
She first rose to prominence as a fine art photographer, founding a service-based photography studio in Memphis in 2006. Over the next 12 years, her portrait work was featured in both local and international publications, celebrated for its emotional depth and storytelling. In 2018, at the height of creative burnout, Tucker made the radical decision to walk away from commercial work and return to herself.
Today, her practice spans fine art photography, abstract painting, and sculpture.. Each piece is a visual artifact of her evolution: soulful, spontaneous, and rich with hidden narratives.
Tucker’s work has been featured in Craig Head Green and Epiphany Gallery and is in the permanent collection of the African American Museum in Dallas
She currently lives and works in Dallas, TX.

Echoes in Black is my most personal body of work yet. This collection weaves together images from my travels, my years as a professional fashion and beauty photographer, moments with family and friends, and pivotal experiences that forever changed me. Each photograph tells its own story, but together they become a visual timeline of evolution. Echoes in Black explores memory, identity, healing, resilience, transformation, and the moments that shape who we become, inviting viewers to reflect on the echoes of their own journey and the experiences that continue to shape who they are.
