Reducing Inequalities

Sustainable Development Goals #10
The 10th Sustainable Development Goals - Reducing Inequalities - aims to diminish inequalities among people, society, and communities around the world.
This includes inequalities of ableism, transphobia, inequality of incomes, education, and much more.
What is Homophobia
History of Homophobia
The Buggery act 1533; King Henry VIII created a law that bans male homosexual activity, the punishment being death. Through the 1900s, the LGBT community was subjected to hate crime, and several other forms of discrimination.
Slowly things started to change: In the informational source, it’s cited that
“In 1981, the European Court of Human Rights declared that Northern Ireland’s criminalisation of homosexual acts between consenting adult males violated the right to respect for private life. As a result, the law was changed.”(Katie Jukes, Each Other)
Between 2010 and 2013, the LGBT community was largely the target of hate crimes. But, there have been many LGBT laws, such as the equal right to adopt and protect a child, as well as the right for same-sex marriage.
So as we move on, we can similarly create more equality in the world.
NGOs that support LGBTQIA+
..And many more
What can we do?
Option 01.
Join QUACK in AISC. The QUACK-Queer Umbrella Ally Club for Kids- is organized to make a safe community in the school and educate allites/students about LGBTQ and how we can make our community better for LGBTQ. When joining the club, the club mates and the hosts(Ms.Gemma!) will help normalizing and identifying who you are.
Option 02.
Speak up your voice and help educating students about homophobia. They will be able to understand and catch the problem early, reducing the inequalities of LGBTQ and homophobia. Share thoughts, opinions, and information by making videos, posters, and much more.
Interviews
A lot of you know, self-hatred, you know but like that. And a lot of other things, I think it like adds to that just like adds fire to the flame. And there's like you know it's just like just the things you see online, even if you don’t experience in-person, the things you see online or that happened to other people, it just makes you like scared of yourself which isn’t great.
I think my main opinion due to the reasoning I had previously provided, is that homophobia can really dehumanize someone, and being, even if you think that it doesn’t happen anymore it is 2022 that was a while ago, it’s like, it still happens, and you know seeing all the bill that was going through congress in Florida, Texas you know all over. It's really sad to see cause it's just like why, like how do you benefit from being homophobic, and it's just very sad to see that happen, and you don't know what someone else is like, what's happening for them, how they're feeling, and homophobia is just like adding flame to the fire so more self-hate. It's just really sad to see what's happening and a lot of people and there's also a little self-hate and homophobic people are just adding more, and there's no reason for you to have those feelings and there's no reason for you to express those negative comments.
It doesn’t really matter what someone says as long as you love yourself and are proud to be yourself, then that's all that makes happiness. (Proud to be yourself)
