SEL - Commitments (22/23)

#SELiswhatwedo

Allow the people I am working with to be vulnerable and accept the guidance to grow within the 5 sel competencies

Preparation! I will be aware of SEL and plan for it, instead of intrinsically just doing it, because this way I will reach all of the students.

Meet staff and students where they are at, and look at them individually to best support and implement SEL.

Compliment and take notice of students SEL positive actions, while helping others that are struggling.

I commit to being Present & Being aware of my SEL

To give every student the ability to articulate their understanding of the 5 SEL domains

I commit to honoring my students' lived experiences by welcoming all approaches and strategies in the classroom!

I commit to modeling SEL for students, staff, and administration.

Build strong relationships with my students and be intentional about SEL all year long

Work on effective communication with and around feelings and emotions

Set an intention every morning with my students to work on my self-awareness as well as my students self awareness. Hopefully, self awareness will lead to improving other indicators!!!

To bring an unstoppable amount of energy daily to make these students feel important

I commit to teaching every student as if he/she/they were my only one.

Modeling several of the indicators that are challenging for me, so I can serve as a model for others.

Building trustworthy, equitable, and empathetic relationships in the classroom.

As an admin assistant, I will make sure all of our families and students feel welcomed.

I will commit to my own SEL development

Teachers are the engine that drives social and emotional learning (SEL) programs and practices in schools and classrooms, and their own social-emotional competence and wellbeing strongly influence their students. Classrooms with warm teacher-child relationships support deep learning and positive social and emotional development among students, writes Kimberly Schonert-Reichl. READ FULL ARTICLE
