24-25 Challenges

This year has not had it’s shortages of challenges.

We have had:

  • 6th Grade ELA Teacher Resign (September)
  • 7th Grade ELA Teacher Resign (October)
  • Ext Room Teacher change of placement (February)
  • 8th Grade Math Teacher (March)
  • CLAWS -
    • 4 - 8th graders
    • 3- 7th graders
    • 1 - 6th grader

  • Expulsions -
    • 2 - 8th graders
    • 3 - 7th graders
    • 2 - 6th graders
  • Homebound -
    • 1 - 8th grader

However….

Incident counts have dropped

Tardies have improved

Every student has identified one adult they trust (most have identified three to four!)

The staff hired for the teachers that resigned have been amazing!

Three students that started in CLAWS have worked their way out!

What’s Changed?

  • First two weeks of school focused solely on relationships, expectations and routines.
  • School wide goals were set as a staff team, and reviewed throughout the year.
  • Admin are more present in the hallways and classrooms.
  • Consistency with behavior
    • New tardy procedure
    • Orange slips
    • Better tracking
    • Follow through with majors = DDRC
  • Created safe places
    • ZEN DEN
    • PAWS Room
