Watershed Watchers Updates

    • We currently have 32 volunteers signed up for the program
    • So far in 2021, volunteers in Birch Bay have worked over 200 hours and collected over 100 bags of trash
    • Will be working on updating the materials, website, and adding an online liability form to make the registration process easier for volunteers
    • Staff worked on another volunteer spotlight that was featured in the September e-newsletter

Berm Ribbon Cutting Event

    • BBWARM hosted a watershed watchers booth at the event to promote the program.
    • We chatted with a bunch of people about our program and participated in the “poker run” event hosted by the chamber of commerce.

Run with the Chums

    • There was a significant turnout at Run with the Chums this past Saturday!
    • 423 pre-race registrations
    • 282 racers and roughly 40 spectators at the event
    • In addition to the main run, there were three “smolt sprint” obstacle course races for children
    • The BBWARM booth had a fair amount of visitors
    • The “We Scoop” photo contest generated lots of interest and several new contest entries

The contest is currently running and ends on September 30th.

Over 50 entries have already been received half way through the contest!

Our annual summer newsletter was mailed at the end of August to 5,411 addresses in the Birch Bay watershed.
