This resource pack can be used in conjunction with the Sheffield Visitors Map (slide 2)
These resources will give learners an understanding of what is available in their local area and encourages them to improve their speaking and listening skills.
These activities can be done on computers/ tablets or phones: go to slide 2 for the Map of Sheffield. If there is no access to technology in class, a paper version can be used instead, these resources are printable.

TIP: You may find that your Local Authority (council) provides a ‘what’s on’ leaflet or website. You can use this for a treasure hunt. The treasure hunt can be done as a trip, physically by learners in groups or set as homework.

The ‘Where can I…?’ recordings are available at two different speeds, so they can be used with different levels of learner.
To give learners a chance to interact with a map of area and understand the place names said in a Yorkshire accent.
Learners could write directions for others in the class using the map, ie. from the station to Trinity Walk.
