  • Dual Enrollment classes are college classes. Classes, even in the high school-based program, are not adapted or modified to suit the pedagogical needs of younger learners. Dual enrolled students are held to the same standards as traditional college students.
  • Grades will be part of your permanent college transcript and can impact admissions decisions at 4-year schools.
  • Classes typically meet 1-3 days/week on a 15-week schedule to cover more content and have much more weight on final test, essay, and project grades than high school courses.
  • To be successful in a college course, you should expect to devote roughly 3 hours per credit. For example, for a 3-credit course, plan to devote 9 hours per week (includes both in-class and out-of-class time).

Things to Keep in Mind!

20 of 23

Beyond having exceptional mastery of content and academic readiness, to be successful in college, students must exhibit skills in:

    • Time management
    • Independent learning ability
    • Motivation
    • Organization to complete complex tasks over several weeks
    • Communication (with the instructor, staff, and other students)
    • Systems navigation (email, blackboard, Peoplesoft)

It’s more than academics!
