NGĀ TURE - The Rules

Minimum of two players

The game begins with the saying - "Ko tēnei te kēmu o te ara pū Māori, ka huri ki a koe" while choosing someone on the spot to start the game.

Person 1 begins with saying one syllable while staying in time with the beat, then person 2 must complete a whole word that begins with the syllable said while also staying in time. Person 2 then starts again with one syllable and passes to the next person and so on...

Feel free to adopt this game, and play with your whānau. It's a great game to get both tamariki and pakeke thinking! Whether you're just beginning to learn te reo Maori, or whether you're fluent, this is the game for you and your whānau.
