    • HOW might this be an issue for Timothy?
    • HOW could this be an issue today?

    • HOW can one avoid being looked down upon in their youthfulness?
    • “But rather in speech, conduct, love, faith and purity, show yourself an example of those who believe.”

    • Key Points:
      • If you don’t want people to look down on you, then be wise in your youth!
      • Practice what you preach!
      • If you preach something, your example better back it up!

    • What is/was “the presbytery”?
    • PRESBYTERY = presbyterion (Greek)

  1. Pay Close Attention To Yourself & To Your Teaching…

    • Why is this so important?
    • Key Point: Hypocrisy in preaching hurts the cause of Christ. (Galatians 2:11-14, Luke 11:37-52)

    • True or False. Every inconsistency is hypocrisy.
    • Key Point: Inconsistency is not always hypocrisy.
    • Key Point: However, when our practices don’t match our preaching, it damages the influence of the gospel.
    • Key Point: Consistency is very important!
    • Example: If one is going to preach on hospitality, and ask the hearer to be more hospitable, he should be an example of hospitality.

1 Timothy 4:11-16
