Excel After School Tutoring

What is it:

  • A high-dosage tutoring program offered to eligible grade 3-8 students based on i-Ready assessment data.
  • Research based model. Curriculum utilizes i-Ready Personalized Instruction and individualized learning plans
  • Offered after school, two times a week for 1-2 hours, aligned to the late bus schedule (dismissal

- ~ 4:30pm)

  • School communities with 25+ students meeting criteria (Spring 23 i-Ready) will be eligible for after school tutoring data
  • Focus on recruiting tutors from Cambridge Community ecosystem, prioritizing CPS staff & partners with strong existing relationships with schools

Spring Session: March 4 - May 17

*No programming 12/25- 1/ 5; 4/16 -19

Student Referral & Recruitment

  • Begin with the 5 Upper Schools
  • Eligible Students “2+ years below grade level” per i-Ready diagnostic

Winter Session: Fall 2023 i-Ready Diagnostic Spring Session: Winter 2024 i-Ready Diagnostic

  • Tutoring in addition to school-day intervention. Not a substitute for IEP Services Not mandatory, families opt in
  • Partnering with Agenda for Children/ Out of School Time intermediary to align with students’ current OST commitments
  • Goal to deliver tutoring support in existing OST settings where possible, and create additional after school tutoring sites as needed.
