I was selected as the “Spotlight Speaker” at a library / technology conference in Winnipeg, Canada.
Consulting in West Virginia
I’ve been hired many times to deliver PD throughout the US and Canada. My interactive workshops are high-tech, informative, and fun. This was a 2-day inservice in West Virginia.
Consulting in New York
I was hired as a consultant from multiple school districts in New York to provide technology and literacy workshops for teachers and librarians.
Consulting in Colorado
I was hired to deliver professional development to an entire school district in Colorado Springs. Our training focused entirely on reluctant readers.
Remote Consulting - “1st Grade iPad eBooks”
From my home office in St. Louis, I facilitated a 4-week inquiry-based project with a 1st grade class in Wisconsin. I used Google Video Hangouts to collaborate & help them create their own multimedia based eBooks using the My Story app for the iPad. We concluded with a fun parent night where students were able to show what they learned & created. Crazy fun!
Innovative Author Visits
I’ve been hired to speak to students at multiple elementary schools throughout the US. I share my journey growing up as a struggling reader and the details of how I used my iPhone to create The Vanishing Coin - iPad book. Kids love the exciting Augmented Reality trick at the end.
TV & Radio Appearances
I shared my book and literacy mission on multiple TV & radio stations. My favorite segment was when I appeared in front of 800,000 viewers on the 40/29 morning news in Arkansas.
Literacy Workshops
I’ve hosted dozens of parents workshops throughout my teaching career and LOVE speaking at parent related conferences.
Colorado Reading Conference
My speaking career took off at the CCIRA reading conference in Denver. Year after year my session filled up the very first day with over 100 teachers, and even more willing to stand the entire time.
I was asked by my principal each year to be on this Instructional Leadership team. We implemented “Instructional Rounds” - an ongoing program with high-level district administrators & instructional experts.

Each month I led staff development in different types of training based on their needs. Most often it involved integrating technology with instruction.
